Top 10 Must-Have Men's Spring 2012 Trends

With a new season almost here, the spring trends will be in full bloom. Menswear is constantly changing and that is the big theme for this season, change. For the spring, don’t be afraid to switch it up with these new themes that are sure to enhance your look and personality.

  1. Windbreakers, even though there is no Wind: Windbreakers appeared on assorted runways, as a statement piece. This jacket is particularly handy in the spring and summer for those warmer days, and breezy nights. Thanks to the often light textile, this piece can be worked to be short sleeved in the day in the rain, and long sleeve in the night for those parties on the beach.
  2. Minimalist Colors and Solids : Plainer basic colors will be returning this spring. The trick is accessorizing, and the way to do it is by not including any accessories in any way. These looks are classic and unencumbered by any edge or grit. Dare we make a Don Draper reference? We must because if he were in reality real, and lived in the spring / summer 2012 season, this would be the trend that he would embrace. For those that need embellishment, look to grooming and hair.
  3. Transparent Fashion: Lace and transparent fashion on men has not always been PC but for the spring it's a trend that every person should embrace. With this trend, moderation can go a good distance. One statement piece should add to the look in the correct way too much might be a terribly bad thing in this example.
  4. What's With all the Stripes? Stripes are coming back for another curtain call, but this show is bound to sell out. Stripes appeared in a large amount of collections for this season and the brighter the better. This season is excellent for experimenting in fashion and what simpler way to do so than with stripes?
  5. Larger Cuts for Larger Slack is in that is all. Larger cuts are in for the spring and summer this year, which is perfect for those among us who assuredly had a new year's promise to shed some weight and failed unsanctimoniously. Bigger cuts in pants and suiting give your skin an opportunity to breath and that may especially be beneficial in warmer climates. Do not get too carried away and lose all shape though.
  6. Revealed Suits with lots of Ink: Prints are reintroducing themselves and oh my, how they were missed. The more there are the merrier, but like your spirits, take care about mixing. This trend saw complete suits on the runway. Not such a lot of the animal print variety, but floral prints were in spades.
  7. White is Right: Nothing is better in fashion ( apart from maybe a black story ) than a white story. All white ensembles popped up everywhere as a main trend for the spring / summer 2012 season. This look is best when done historically, meaning leaving the colorful accessories behind. For a touch of color, explore manbags, satchels, belts and shoes.
  8. Fluorescent Sounds Better than Neon: Fluorescent colors have been the standout trend that came to the runway and had everybody's attention. Designers paid special attention to brighter colors and points of view to make looks that were retro and young. For this trend, doing a few neon colors together can take away from the general look, so stick to one robust piece, to make a statement that'll be well received.
  9. Blue, and not the mood: Blue was the colour in both men's and women's collections for spring, so get ready to see plenty of it. But who needs to look like everyone else? To distinguish yourself from the rest, embrace this colour in accessories and shoes, instead of complete looks. Through accessories is the best way to embrace the trend, while still working on your own individuality.
  10. Bag-Man, not Man Bags: Bags are essential for next season, there is no getting away from it. To embrace the season, canvas could be the go to textile, but a little leather to emphasize the look is always a practical approach. When looking to leather, check out contrasting stitching and pairings of bright and dark colours. The men's market is continually changing to suit new audiences and developing niche markets. But trends will be in style that is what makes them occur. This spring it's time for reinvention and to have some jollies in fashion.
